The Park hotels see themselves as India's premier boutique chain, not realizing perhaps that being a chain means you more or less have to forgo the "boutique" moniker. Besides, while attempting to be super-trendy, some effects are looking a little dated, with fittings and finishes due for a refurb. But there's no doubting its place in the hearts of Chennai movers and groovers, who flock here to dine at the 24-hour eatery off the lobby, Six-O-One (601), recommended for its unusual, varied menu (and one of the best masala dosas in the city), as well as to the Leather Bar and Pasha, the city's most popular nightclub . The Park's other celebrated dining options include Lotus, a popular Thai restaurant, and Aqua, a cool cafe where the outdoor seating, on diwans (Indian recliner sofas) near the pool, is terrific. Having covered Chennai's social scene (which being a guest here gives you automatic access to), you can retreat to your extremely comfortable "pod," and sleep off events on one very comfortable mattress. Next day, stroll down to the Ispahani Centre for some retail therapy.
