While there is plenty of charm in the old city of Chiang Mai, the city has grown. Not too far from the old city, to the Northwest of the moat, popular to both locals and tourists, it is quite a festive and trendy area. Especially towards the weekend. Nice way to explore it on a rental bicycle from your friendly hotel or guesthouse.
