• Pho (pronounced fuh) is to Vietnam what pad thai is to Thailand. Strangely enough, despite their general proximity, pho is as difficult to find in Thailand as pad thai is in Vietnam. This little noodle shop in Kad Klang Wiang Market, a short walk from Tha Phae Gate, brings the two countries' cuisines just a little closer. Viang Chane is the local spelling of the Lao capital, Vientiane, marking this restaurant as a Lao Pho shop. The full menu includes a panorama mix of Thai, Lao, and Vietnamese fast foods including the strange but delicious Vietnamese jelly desserts served on ice. The very popular Lao beer, "Beer Lao", is available here; a rarity in Thailand to say the least. -Scott Johnson
