- It stands to reason that in a region as mountainous as Chiang Mai province that there will be exceptional rock climbing. Whether a beginner, intermediate or certified spider monkey, head for Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures (CMRCA) to find it. For beginners, CMRCA offers a variety of courses that take you out for a day or two of personal challenges, teaching you how to become a rock climber. Far from pedestrian, it features a 60-meter abseil into a cave system! For the intermediate climber, CMRCA offers a variety of courses including technical top rope skills, introduction to lead climbing, introduction to vertical caving and bouldering. The climbing is at 'Crazy Horse Butress', Thailand's best developed crag, with about 150 routes. It is located about a 45 minute drive from Chiang Mai. The guides are all very professional and safety conscious but also fun and easy going.
