Elephant Nature Park - Chiang Mai
  • Type: Attractions
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

All visits to the park must be pre-booked.

  • Description:

    • Elephant Nature Park is an award-winning project established in the 1990's with the aim of providing a refuge and rescue centre for elephants. The park is set in Chiang Mai province, some 60km from the city, and provides sanctuary for over 34 formerly distressed elephants from all over Thailand. Set in a natural valley surrounded by forested mountains and bordered by a river - Elephant Nature Park has an extremely good reputation with travelers. By all accounts many travelers have been moved to tears by the obvious happiness of the elephants after being saved from diabolical conditions they had previously endured. Visitors have the opportunity to feed them and wade into the river to bathe them. Those of a sensitive disposition should avoid watching the optional video, which reveals the horrendous training methods often employed. Elephant rides, painting and tricks are not featured at this park.
