Huay Kaew Waterfall

• Head up Huay Kaew Road and turn into the parking area just up the hill a bit from Chiang Mai Zoo to visit one of Chiang Mai's most convenient natural beauties. It's not the most spectacular waterfall around, but its proximity to the city, ease to get to, and outdoor feel make this waterfall an easy and worthwhile trip for travelers looking for relaxing spots. Around the waterfall there are some short hiking trails. The waterfall's pools are nice to swim in and the shelters above the drop are perfect for an afternoon picnic. A wide variety of Thai street foods are for sale at the park entrance, including every fried insect imaginable! -Scott Johnson
