• Cavernous Kad Suan Kaew is one of the largest shopping malls in northern Thailand and it is a quite remarkable, if aging building. The labyrinth of stores includes restaurants, a food court, an English language cinema, a department store, a supermarket, an IT section - there is even karaoke rooms and a bowling alley. Also known simply as 'Central', Kad Suan Kaew has a range of western-style restaurants including Sizzler, Pizza Hut, Black Canyon Coffee, but there is a food court within the Tops Supermarket that is worth trying. Here they serve delicious Khao Soi and the fried Gyozas (fried dumplings)are also good. You'll need to buy coupons from the small booth before approaching the stalls. The other food court often has a band or piano player but looks a bit sad. Have a search for the restaurant on the roof near the cinema. Here there are good views over Chiang Mai.
