Mae Sa Waterfall

Address:

50180 Chiang Mai, Thailand

Description:

Mae Sa Waterfall is a lovely waterfall in a picturesque and shady setting in the Mae Sa Valley. The falls are split into 10 separate waterfalls of moderate to small size, with three or four of the pools providing a good pool for a dip. While none of these falls are individually as spectacular as other falls in province, particularly Doi Inthanon National Park, together they are one of the best falls to visit in Chiang Mai. Large trees shade the area and it is a fabulous place to escape the heat. Plenty of local and foreigners frequent the falls on a hot day and you would be lucky to find them all to yourself, but due to the length of the nature walk along the falls you can certainly find a secluded spot for a sit down or for a picnic. The falls represent a great side trip when visiting the many attractions of Mae Rim and the Mae Sa Valley like the Mae Sa Elephant Camp and the Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens. Unfortunately there is a dual pricing policy to see the falls as they are located in the Doi Suthep Pui National Park. There is a 200BHT fee for foreigners and 20 Baht for Thais. If you happened to have a Thai driving licence you will pay less.
