Description:

  • Standing on stilts and built as a royal palace, Wat Phan Tao was inhabited by the ruler of Chiang Mai in the former years since 1846. The present day temple, now adorned with a new facade has traces of its former ruler Chao Mahawong. The temple is one of the few wooden temples in Thailand. The architectural style of the temple is beautiful with its Nagas and peacock carvings. Visit the temple for a majestic experience and to witness the magnificent 19th Century architectural style of Chiang Mai.
