Public Question Asked by User171042 about Chiang Mai
hi there!!! I m travelling in a couple of days with my sister to thailand and planning to go to cambodia or laos if possible from the north.
we will be arriving to bkk, but we are confused. we d love to go to chiang mai to do elephant safari, trekking, see some nature and mountains. but, is it easy to finf a tour, or we can do it on our own? then, is it worth it to make a stop in ayutthaya or sukhothai? because we only have 12 days, and want to see so many places, one island at least.. I hope you can help us to plan our trip. how many days needed to do chiang mai and the best way to get there, if trainbus or plane. and then, if it s easy to go laos. thanks so much!

Hi you can do any of the tours you want just ask at your hotel desk. They will arrange everything for you.
You can even book them online without a deposit.
The tour company I found to do good tours is http://chiangmaitours.chiangdao.com/
Now what about being adventureous and do a Flight of the Gibbon treetop tour. Thats a great experience. Just google it.
Do stop off in Ayutthaya or Sukhothai. You can spend three days in Chiang Mai and do alot of things.
The best way to get there fromBKK is by plane. If you like slowly then a train ride or bus, but the roads have their danger points.
To go to Laos, take a bus from the arcade bus station in Chiang Mai to Chaing Rai, stay overnight then in the morning, take the bus to to Chiang Khong and cross the border. Stay in Huay Xai for a bit.
Now in Laos you can take the slow boat to Luang Prabang. Buses are slow and hazardous in the wet season.
Hope this gives some information to help you. Happy travels.
