How much time should I allocate for being in Chiang Mai? I'll be in Thailand for a total of 1.5-2 weeks. Any recommendations?

Hi All depends in what you are interested:
Things to see:
- Temples:
Doi Sathep on a mountain
Wat Suan Dok (stupah of the Princes of Chiang mai + veggie esto (the best)
Wat prasing – House of Prince Mengrai founder of CM
See a Chinese Temple near Wararot Market- for the ‘kitch’ design
- Trekking: see Elephant 2 or 3 spots - see mountain
- Outside trips Payao City discovered in middle of lake
- Chiang Rai – Museum worth seeing – CM not so
- Fang – Golden triangle City …. Worth visiting.

Please be a little bit more specific- then I can be more precise

One week is enough in Chiang Mai. Wolf Podlinski mentioned most things. For some adventure you can also do the jungle flight ,microlightflying or a balloonflight www.balloonadventurethailand.com

On top of what has been suggested already you could "do" the so-called Maehongson Loop, that is traveling by public bus or hired motorcycle from CNX to Maehongson via Pai and back via Kun Yuam and Mae Chaem or the other way round. What to see and do?: Pretty landscape, hilltribe villages, trekking, rafting/boating. Minimum 3 to 4 days.
There is a lot of info available in CNX about the "Loop".
