Top 10:

Cinemas in Chicago

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Catching a movie is a great option when you are looking to relax, escape the winter cold or summer heat, or to start your weekend. Chicago can offer you a theater with the latest flicks, a quirky venue, or a theater to see those artsy films. If you are looking for a theater with options, you will enjoy the AMC Theater downtown, which is Chicago's theater with glitz and glam. It offers 21 huge screens, comfortable seating, a wide selection of refreshments, a bowling alley, and is the place to host premiers in the city. Also downtown, see what IMAX or 3-D film is showing at the IMAX Theater on Chicago's Navy Pier. The Kerasotes cineplex in west Lincoln Park is not quite as large, but is equally comfortable and clean. It is located near plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy before or after the movie. For a less commercial venue, you will enjoy the Landmark Century Theater in Lakeview, which shows a great selection of independent and foreign films. You may also like the Davis Theater in Lincoln Square, which shows most of the latest movies. It is a smaller venue that is quite run-down, but has an old charm to it. If you want to skip commercial all-together and experience the local theaters, check out the Village North Theater in Rogers Park and the Village Art Theater for first and second-run movies. For a unique experience, catch an obscure movie at the Gene Siskel Film Center, or indulge in a cult film while sipping a cold beer a The Vic's Brew and View, or enter a fantasy land at the whimsical Music Box Theater.
