The Best of NileGuide
- Chicago is the home of the blues, and continues to be a leader in producing quality blues and jazz. In almost every neighborhood, maybe in a dark corner, you can find amazing musicians riffing on old and new tunes. If you love the rawness of the blues and jazz, then you will be happy every night of the week in Chicago! In the downtown area you can find several hot spots. The Jazz Showcase, a classy spot operating since 1947, hosts some of Chicago's finest, and is known for bringing some of the world's best. Enjoy an upscale night out at Pops for Champagne, where you can sip champagne while listening to small jazz combos. You can also catch larger acts at the House of Blues, who bring acts of all genres. On the outer edges of downtown, Buddy Guy's Legends will bring you the feeling of being in an old-school blues dive bar with some great musicians. Andy's Jazz Club, also in the downtown area, is a lively restaurant/bar that brings acts to appeal to old and new jazz listeners. If you are into experimental jazz, the Velvet Lounge is the place for you, with easy parking right downtown! On the north side, dance the night away to funky blues at the ever-popular Kingston Mines, or head down the street to B.L.U.E.S, a smaller bar, but still boasts quite a crowd. Even further north, spend your night at a the famous former speakeasy, the Green Mill, that hosts some of the city's best musicians every night of the week. On the west side, check out Rosa's Lounge for authentic Chicago blues in a low-key neighborhood hangout.
