The Best of NileGuide
- When the stomach starts to growl there is nothing quite as satisfying as chips, guacamole, and a margarita. Whether you are on the Northside, in the Loop, or in the heart of Pilsen, you will find truly authentic Mexican food. If you are looking to find something cheap, maybe just to enjoy a quick taco and a margartia, head to El Jardin located outside of Wrigleyville. This is a great place for a big group of friends, and certainly your best margarita option. Careful, these ones will get the fiesta going quickly! Also on the Northside enjoy delicious, giant burritos at Mayan Palace at a reasonable price, or try Los Nopales in Lincoln Square, where they are known for serving "street-like" authentic food, particularly their guacamole. If you love guacamole, then you will enjoy Adobo Grill in Lincoln Park where they make the guacamole table side. For a more gourmet experience, be sure to try Las Palmas in hip Wicker Park. This upscale restaurant is comfortable and unpretentious, yet keeps a festive vibe and offers a menu with a creative twist on the traditional cuisine. For another upscale option, check out Zapatista in the South Loop, especially if you are seeking something romantic. Enjoy your meal in the dark wood dining room, or out on the large patio. With a vibrant Mexican community on the South Side, there is no doubt there are plenty of tasty Mexican restaurants and taquerias. For a modern feel try Abuelo's Mexican Grill, and for an inexpensive option try the Nuevo Leon, a Pilsen neighborhood classic with a fun, festive feel. Finally, Chicago's Rick Bayless cannot be forgotten. To experience his signature Mexican cuisine style do not miss a meal at Frontera Grill or Topolobampo during your visit.
