Hyde Park/Kenwood
Located just south of the Loop, Hyde Park is a beautiful and historic neighborhood whose newest claim to fame is as the residence of Barack Obama. It is also home to the prestigious 100 year old University of Chicago, which has defined the neighborhood. The Oriental Institute Museum, one of Chicago's best off-the-beaten-path museums is a highlight of the University, as well as the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.
The Museum of Science and Industry is also located in Hyde Park, a great place for families. The museum is situated in the Palace of Fine Arts, one of the only remaining buildings from the 1893 World's Colombian Exposition. The neighborhood does not have many shops and restaurants because of its distance from the loop and popular North side, but there are still a few notable destinations like La Petite Folie with its great French wine list.
