River North
River North is the hub of Chicago dining. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner at Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill, an earthy vegan meal at Karyn's Cooked or a new twist on American flavors at Gilt Bar, this neighborhood is known to satisfy every appetite - - and just about any budget, too. While many restaurants in River North are on the spendy side, you'll also find a fast-food legend: the Rock 'N Roll McDonald's.
After dinner, choose from some of the city's trendiest nightlife that lines Hubbard Street, or head further north for the laid-back and low-noise environment at the Clark Street Ale House. If you're looking for a line and a reason to wear your dancing shoes, head to Enclave. This nightclub has been known for occasional celebrity sightings including Charlie Sheen and Jon Bon Jovi.
This neighborhood isn't just alive when it's dark, though. From shopping at the Merchandise Mart to browsing the art galleries that line Wells Street, River North has plenty to do, see and buy during regular business hours.
