Uptown/Lincoln Square
Situated between Edgewater and Lakeview, Uptown is full of ethnic diversity, with many Chinese, Filipino, Thai, and Vietnamese restaurants and shops. Home to several well known theaters, including the Riviera Theatre, the Aragon Ballroom, the Uptown Theater and the Green Mill (Chicago's most famous jazz club). Uptown is also the final resting place of many famous Chicagoans in Graceland Cemetery.
To the west, Lincoln Square's quaint pedestrian area mixes an old world feel with modern storefronts. Boasting its German roots, the architecture is mostly German village style. This is a delightfully hip and quickly growing neighborhood that has a much quieter feel than elsewhere in Chicago. The Square has great German restaurants, unique shops, the Davis movie theater whose rough-around-the-edges interior makes it charming, and the Old Town School of Folk Music, a wonderful performing space.
