Description:

  • Cafe Brauer is a charming restaurant that opened along the edge of Lincoln Park's South Pond in 1907. Shuttered in 1942, the location sat unused for 50 years until the Chicago Park District rescued the cafe in 1991. Today, the cafe has been restored elegantly. Unfortunately, the food does not match the prairie school architecture. Hamburgers and hot dogs represent the American fare. If you can, sneak upstairs and check out the Great Hall. It is used primarily for conventions and meetings and is a real Chicago gem.
