Description:

  • A mix of sushi and traditional Japanese dishes are on the menu at this Asian Fusion restaurant. The owner is proud to put izakaya (a style of Japanese bar that also serves food to go with the drinks) in the name; he considers it to be the only real one in Chicago. Masu is the square, wooden cup that sake is traditionally served in. To start, try the gyoza or shishito (seared pepper with soy and mirin). The dinner menu includes the usual sushi and maki rolls, as well as noodles and more substantial dishes: grilled mackerel, hamachi, salmon, and braised pork belly. -Gina Rosemellia
