Description:

  • Commissioned by the sons of the famous Philadelphia banker Francis Drexel, this fountain was designed by German sculptor Henry Manger. Drexel was not much of a Chicagoan. As a matter of fact, he never set foot in the city, but he did own some property that he let the city take over. This is one of the first monuments to ever be erected in the Chicagoland area, and was restored by the city's park district in the late 1970s.
