San Francisco Acatepec

Description:

  • San Francisco Acatepec is a church built in the XVII century with the main feature of being the only facade of all the churches in Puebla totally recovered with mosaics and talavera.
In Puebla is customary to decorate a facade with talavera, but here the result is stunning.
Is impossible to capture all the details and patterns of the tiles. It's truly amazing.
The inside is beautiful too, with a decoration made of golden plaster and polychromed altar pieces.
If there's a mass on, you'll have to wait a little to go inside.
The touristic tram of Cholula can take you there, since it's not on either Cholula's downtown.
