The Christchurch Arts Centre is one of the must sees as far as shopping experiences in the city are concerned. It is filled with arts and crafts of all sorts. The building itself is interesting to have a look at even if you are not into shopping as it is a Gothic structure that used to be Canterbury University from 1873 to 1975. There are also cafes and theatres including the home of the Southern Ballet.
