Thx for answer D - am finding hotels to be booked up already and rental house way expensive. Wondering if there's a nice town/area outside
Christchurch that would make a good location with access to city, but with it's own vibe and bars/restaurants? Thanks!

I agree with Lonely Planeter as Akaroa is a lovely spot. You can also search under Banks Peninsula as there are a number of options which are out there yet not in Akaroa itself.

There is a town called Akaroa outside of Christchurch worth visiting and even staying for a while. It is an historic French settlement with a unique charm an vibe. It is located 75 km outside of Christchurch on the bank peninsula. There are daily transport there via private bus company. Hope that help!
