Overall, this is probably the most upmarket of Christchurch's hostels.

On the banks of the Avon River and with a beautiful garden setting, the hotel provides a tranquil environment for travelers. The hotel, which was built in the 1950s, is continuously being refurbished and is a short stroll from the city center. The Avon Apartments, behind the hotel, are also available for guests with a kitchen, laundry and the choice of two or three bedrooms.
