Join the Christchurch Hop-on Hop-off Tram Tour and experience the combination of tram heritage, attractions and historic buildings with the culture of the Garden City.

The hop-on hop-off route is approximately 25 minutes or 2.5 kilometers of track and includes all the major sights including Cathedral Square, Arts Centre, Botanical Gardens, River Avon and Cathedral Junction.

Your Christchurch Hop-on Hop-off pass is valid for two consecutive days. This is the best way to experience Christchurch at your own pace.Jump onboard the beautifully restored trams and hop-on and off at any of the tram stops to explore the sight and attractions up close.

Taking a little over half an hour to complete, children aged over five will adore the large pirate ship and lurid-blue waterfall, while completing their 18 holes. With full wheelchair access, Pirate's Island Adventure Golf caters for younger children in pushchairs, and there are drinks and snacks available. The course is floodlit at night--ideal for kids of all ages! Hours are seasonal.

On those hot summer days, Jellie Park Recreation and Sports Centre transforms into a suburban oasis, just a seven-minute drive from the central city. Outside, the complex is a large, children's pool, diving pool, and a host of water slides, including the infamous jet slides, which hurtle you down at tremendous speed. In drier parts, large grassy lawns and shaded picnic areas can accommodate the whole family for a variety-packed day out. However Jellie Park is not only a summer proposition as the complex includes an indoor-swimming pool, spa and gymnasium. Buses regularly travel in the region making Jellie Park a very accessible day of fun. Opening hours are Mon-Fri 6am - 9pm, weekends and public holidays 7am - 8pm.

Supa Karts will prove to be quite a break for those who want to be race car drivers; well, at least for a short while. The indoor circuit is a tyre-laden mixture of chicanes, hairpins and straights. The go-karts zoom around the course getting up to the speed of 30 kilometers per hour. The experienced crew monitors provide you with the ground rules before racing commences. Pre-booked groups can organize a Grand Prix-style race, otherwise just roll up and strap yourself in! Light refreshments are available. Children must be supervised and there is a minimum height restriction.

This is a thinking person's outing, and it may be the quietest your children ever get on your entire holiday. Adults seem to have as much fun as the kids as they come to grips with tsunami makers, tightropes, and a host of interactive exhibits. It's educational and entertaining at the same time. Stop by the excellent gift shop, which stocks great science kits and games; or take in a movie on one of the eight screens across the foyer.
