• This is the classiest and most dignified gay bar in South Carolina, modeled on London gentlemen's clubs. Located about a block west of the gold dome of the South Carolina capitol building, it's outfitted with leather sofas, unusual artwork, and a very long bar where many of the regulars sit. No food is served, and almost no one ever opts to dance. Because the place defines itself as a private club, an advance phone call is usually a good idea. In a state widely publicized for its homophobia, don't expect a prominent sign out front--just a discreet plaque.
