Description:

  • Folketeatret can be translated as the theatre of the people. One of the oldest theatres in Copenhagen, it was created as an alternative to the 'rich people's' Royal Theatre on Kongens Nytorv. Folketeatret is located on Nørregade, just by Nørreport Station. The theatre has three well-functioning, newly-restored stages, and the Store Scene ('big stage') has been kept in its original, shimmering style. Here, popular plays, children's plays and musicals are shown. This is where H.C. Andersen and other such folklore are appreciated. On the Hippodromen stage, smaller and more modern plays are shown. Folketeatret also has a 'young stage' (Ung Scene).
