• One of the first businesses to move into the new cultural quarter Kødbyen (Copenhagen's old meat-packing district), the hip Karriere Bar is a restaurant, hang-out spot and after-hours bar and really sums up the philosophy of this new neighborhood: To make art a natural part of the social gathering. From the pink neon light in the window to the lamps over the bar and including the bar counter, some of the biggest names in European contemporary art have contributed works to the bar, including Olufur Eliasson and Elmgreen & Dragset; the place itself is owned by the Danish artist Jeppe Hein and his sister, Lærke. Drinks include classic cocktails and draught lager, with a cheap bar until midnight, and the inhouse DJs play regularly every Friday and Saturday, while Thursdays usually bring experimental live music to the bar. Karriere is open to everyone, but does have a minimum age of 23 years after midnight.
