- With its fire-truck red facade, this old-fashioned bar, on a side street off Kongens Nytorv Square has been entertaining its loyal clientele for decades, and is both charming and genuine. Its customer base is generally over 30 and number local artists, sports celebrities and journalists, most of them regulars. The fact that it hasn't changed much in 20 years should be taken as a compliment to the bar's ambiance and class rather than as a criticism of its decor, a combination of old signs and paintings by local artists, generally customers themselves. Both a traditional bar and a live venue, Palæ presents live jazz every third Sunday from 5-8pm (free entry: see the bar's website for details) and offers a light lunch from 11am until 5pm Monday to Friday.
