Description:

  • The much-hyped and exclusive club Simons was opened in summer 2010 in the premises of a former gallery just around the corner from Nyhavn. The two owners—both bearing the first name 'Simon'—were veterans of Copenhagen's party scene and decided they knew exactly what made for a good club night in the Danish capital; apparently this included an element of the bizarre, so they employed a short-statured colleague (also called Simon) to be employed as drinks mixer behind the bar and the club's 'resident dwarf'. The two-floor premises have room for 400 guests, who are all hand-picked from the hopefuls waiting in line outside, with the usual door price set at DKK 100. Friday night sees bookings of big-name electronic DJs from both home and abroad, while Saturdays are more selective, members-only nights; in 2011, the club found itself making national headlines as host of the post-christening party of the Danish Royal Family.
