Description:

  • In a fashionable downtown location that has previously housed exclusive eateries Etika and Grill Bar and even a stripclub, The Bishop's Arms opened on Ny Østergade in spring 2011. It's part of a Swedish chain of nostalgic English-style pub restaurants, all called The Bishops Arms, owned by colorful Indian entrepreneur Bicky Chakraborty, who moved to Sweden in the '60s. In addition to a vast array of both draft and bottled beers and more than 400 varieties of whisky (Denmark's largest selection) the dining menu includes mains like entrecote steak and fries (DKK 225). A cheaper alternative is the pub menu, which offers grilled sandwiches, a ploughman's lunch, and burgers – all priced around DKK 100-135. In keeping with the classic, English style, the pub has its own library – compete with leather Chesterfield sofas and 4,000 books. Copenhagen's Bishops Arms is currently the only one outside of Sweden.
