While Copenhagen does not have a reputation as a cheap city to stay in, finding a reasonably-priced (and centrally-located) hotel in the city is not as hard as it seems. Fortunately for its visitors, a budget revolution has occurred in the Danish capital, and while cheap used to come on the shabby side, now designer rooms are available for even the budget-conscious.
Sct. Thomas may seem a little old-fashioned these days, but this friendly, family-run hotel remains our firm favorite for low-cost lodging, for its quiet yet central location and homely atmosphere. Those who prefer a livelier place to stay might want to check out the newly-built high-rise Wakeup Copenhagen—where prices rise along with floor level—or the five-star hostel Dan Hostel Copenhagen City, that proves that even backpackers can afford smart design.
Absalon Hotel Annex is probably the cheapest hotel option in the city, and while the more basic annex to the neighboring Absalon Hotel may not provide en suite rooms, it does offer a unique payment concept—one night's stay here means a whole 24 hours from when you check in, meaning no more 10 a.m. check-outs for late risers.
The Danish budget hotel chain CABINN now has a total of four hotels in the city, with the newest of them, Cab Inn Metro, found out towards the airport. For its central location, Cab Inn City makes the list—and is a pretty reliable (although basic) choice for low-cost lodging.
