  • With more than half of Copenhagen's hotels to be found huddled around the back of the Central Train Station, it's not hard to find a room in this area-the challenge is more in finding a good one. Thankfully, many of the cheapest and most dilapidated hotels have been transformed in recent years, and now staying here is not the last resort it might once have been: In fact, some of the city's smartest boutique hotels are to be found right on the station's doorstep.

    Number one on our list, Copenhagen Plaza, couldn't be closer to the Central Station-the hotel is located practically on the station's concourse. Despite this, it remains a smart and exclusive option-with an old-fashioned bar that is world famous.

    Two hotels on our list, Hotel Nimb and Axel Hotel Guldsmeden, can boast of being amongst Copenhagen's most exclusive boutique hotels and have both won numerous awards and graced the pages of the world's top design magazines. Staying at either hotel doesn't come cheap, but pampering is definitely part of the package.

    For the more budget-conscious, cheap options are many in this area, although some hotels near the Central Station are a little basic, to put it mildly, and those who are particularly sensitive to noise might find the lively nightlife of this quarter too loud. Stays at the Hotel Tiffany, Norlandia Star and Absalon Hotel Annex, however, all combine budget prices with clean, bright rooms and reasonable service.
