In general, Copenhagen's restaurants are all family-friendly, accustomed to accomodating babies as well as teenagers: High chairs, children's portions and changing facilities are fairly standard. All restaurants on this list offer that and more, whether in relaxed atmosphere, play area or dishes particularly popular with the youngest diners.
Standards like Italian food and burgers top our list of preferred cuisines, though of a higher quality than the average fast food joint: Fresh, quality produce keeps mom and dad happy at burger bars like Chili and Sporvejen, where wipe-clean tables don't detract from a pleasant diner style decor.
Another place offering no-fuss speedy service is Copenhagen's branch of the London-based noodle chain Wagamama, with entrance in Tivoli as well as from the street.
Two Italian restaurants make our list: Both are a little pricey for the budget-conscious family, but kids will be spoiled rotten tucking into pizzas as their parents enjoy a broad range of pasta and meat dishes at Vesuvio or La Rocca, which though it trumps with its special children's room, is probably a little extravagant for most families. For cafe food, we love Makke Kaffe (not far from the Nationalmuseet) as well as Laundromat in Nørrebro, where healthy, reasonably-priced dishes are combined with eclectic furnishings and plenty of toys.
Museums and department store restaurants are generally geared towards family-friendly dining. On the top floor of Magasin du Nord, Spisestedet is spacious and uncomplicated, while Nationalmuseet's rather upmarket Restaurant Julian can still accommodate the museum's younger visitors.
The wild card on our list is The Irish Rover: This Irish pub's selection of bar meals caters also for kids, with special rates and portions for little ones and the option to eat outside.
