The Central Train Station itself may not be much of an attraction, but you don't have to walk far to find plenty of things to do right on your doorstep. Whether you're exploring the city during a flying visit between intercity connections or staying at one of the neighborhood's many hotels, you can certainly find life beyond the station concourse.
Top of our list is an obvious choice: The world-famous Tivoli Gardens are quite literally across the road from the station forecourt and an essential for any visitor to Copenhagen, no matter how world weary.
Almost as close at the opposite end, behind the maze of train platforms, is the modern fitness and sports complex DGI-Byen: More than just a swimming baths, the center also houses a spa, climbing wall and even a bowling alley - as well as a surprisingly high-class restaurant.
One of the city's most overlooked museums, the small Museum of Copenhagen, can be found a short walk away down Vesterbrogade, in the attractive location of a grand old shooting lodge. Also in Vesterbro, take the time to check out what's on at exhibition center Øksnehallen - this former cattle hall has been transformed into the perfect venue for trade fairs and large-scale photo exhibitions like the World Press Photo.
Two attractions a mere stone's throw from the Central Train Station are found in the same building - Ripley's Believe It Or Not, on Rådhuspladsen, and HC Andersens Eventyrhuset. Neither is particularly Danish in their presentation, but they do offer something to keep young families occupied on a rainy day.
