Copenhagen offers attractions for every age group, but none are catered for as well as children. For families, the city is a delight: One big playground where even the museums offer the chance to touch and play in special areas. Copenhagen isn't just kid-friendly, it's kids first.
Make sure you've allocated a minimum of four hours for our top attractions, science museum Experimentarium and the city's Zoo. Both spots have rather expensive ticket prices, but once you're there you could easily spend the best part of a day in either attraction, be it working with the gadgets and how-to machines of the educational yet fun Experimentarium to coming close to the hundreds of animals on view in Københavns Zoo. Just try not to lose the younger kids in the zoo's warren-style rabbit playground! In fact, you may find the hardest thing is managing to get the kids out of there and home again.
If outdoor playgrounds are what you're looking for, there are some great ones to be found in the city's many parks, including the imaginative natural playground in Naturcenter Vestamager. Other outdoor activities for hot summer days include making a splash in the child's pool of the harbor bathing spot, or on city center beach Amager Strandpark, where activities (such as open-air theater and music) are offered during the summer.
Both the National Museum and the national art gallery Statens Museum for Kunst have special children's wings (Louisiana does too, though we left this off our list as we found it a little harder to just 'drop in' here). And last but certainly not least, how you go wrong when there's a funfair—Tivoli—in the middle of the city?
