    • This old inner city hotel, on a side street close to the central train station, is a surprising find in this noisy neighborhood of basic lodging facilities. The Guldsmeden hotel group reopened its doors in 2007 after extensive renovation, transforming it into an oasis of wellness in the very heart of the downtown area. Axel Guldsmeden's unique touches include the Balinese-style rooms, replete with Persian rugs and original art - and combined with the latest in flat screen TVs. Organic breakfasts are served in the heated courtyard and the hotel's luxurious spa uses all organic products in its hot and cold tubs, sauna and steam baths. This 4-star hotel was named on Conde Nast's 2008 Traveller Hot List of one of the world's 65 top new hotels.
