First Hotel Esplanaden, recently taken over by the reliable Scandinavian hotel group First Hotels, is a 117-room hotel found in a grand 1891 building. While it offers the standard amenities of a good hotel, its real draw is its location—close to the city and some of its top attractions, including
Amalienborg,
Nyhavn and the
Little Mermaid, yet still able to offer peace and quiet to guests who prefer their stay to be relaxing rather than lively. The green space of
Kastellet is found across the road from the front door. Rooms are furnished in simple Scandinavian style with high ceilings and all come with wireless internet access. Other services offered are free organic tea/coffee, a 24-snack bar and bike rental (March-October only). Rates are very reasonable, especially considering the exclusiveness of the location.
