Description:

  • The top floor restaurant of department store Illum on Copenhagen's pedestrian Strøget, Spisebaren reopened in 2011 under the ownership of Mikkel Shafi from gourmet eatery Kokkeriet. The smart diner is decorated in bright colors, and can also boast a terrace out on the balcony overlooking the busy walking street. The menu offers both simple dishes for busy shoppers, like burgers or coffee and a cake, as well as fancy reinterpretations from the Scandinavian kitchen like 'braised jaw of beef in tobacco sauce' for DKK 175. Prices are medium to expensive. With seating for 250 people, Spisebaren is not just a restaurant and cafe but also wine bar, take away and deli.
