- Greek-born Nikolaos Strangas left his prestigious position as chief pastry maker at Michelin-starred Era Ora in Christianshavn to go it alone with this patisserie de-luxe on Åboulevard between The Lakes and the Avenue Hotel. Heaven for those with a sweet-tooth, Strangas and his Danish wife Lotte opened Cakeaway in 2010 in the premises of an old bakery, and despite its slightly out-of-town location this small, luxury cake shop has big dreams: Nothing short of raising Copenhagen's desserts to the gourmet standards of its other cuisine. Enjoy a variety of exquisitely presented cakes together with an organic espresso coffee from Estate Coffee. One of Cakeaway's specialties is its French Macarons: Choose between 15 different pastel shades of chocolate ganache fillings.
