Description:

  • Opened in 2010, The Red Box has high hopes of revolutionising Copenhagen's concept of Chinese food, much as restaurant Kiin Kiin raised Thai cuisine to gourmet standards. Contrary to the local 'Kina Grill', with its greasy spring rolls and stodgy take away staples, this hip new eatery offers healthy fusion food in a smart setting not far from Kongens Nytorv, fusing the best of both Asian and European kitchens in dishes like 'wok-fried mussels steamed in rice wine with ginger and lemon grass' and 'rack of lamb with Zhe Zhao sauce, marinated red peppers and green asparagus', and with a good wine list to boot. With a two-course menu set at DKK 259 and three courses for DKK 289, it is pricey for the average Chinese— but fairly reasonable for this rather upmarket street.
