• Denmark's largest collection of living plants, the Botanical Gardens are actually part of the University of Copenhagen's Natural History Museum. Their academic value aside, the gardens also act as a green oasis in the heart of the city, a place to relax and unwind amongst rare and unusual plants and flowers even in wintertime, thanks to the extensive collection in the tropical Palm House. Visitors can also unwind by the lake, sit and enjoy a drink in the outdoor cafe (open in summer only) or take some of the gardens' color home from the flower shop. Note: The Botanical Gardens are currently undergoing an extensive renovation that is expected to be completed in September 2012. While this will cause some disturbance to visitors during the renovation period, the gardens continue to be open as usual. Admission to the Botanical Gardens is free; closed Mondays.
