Description:

  • Located on the island of Funen, 450 year-old Egeskov Slot is one of Denmark's best preserved castles and well worth the approximately two-hour trip from Copenhagen if you or any of your family are a fan of old castles. Still owned by a member of the aristocratic Bille family, who have lived on the Egeskov estate for generations, the castle is filled with a wide variety of other attractions, including a veteran car museum and a dolls' house museum that includes the exquisite Titiana's Palace. There is also a moat (still with water in it), maze and adventure playground on the extensive grounds. Easily possible to spend a whole day here without being bored, this is the ultimate adventure park for kids with fairy tale imaginations. The castle is open May-September only.
