• This exclusive furniture store is located a little out of town, by the waterfront in the Østerbro/ Nordhavn district, but a visit here is much more than just a shopping trip, and a must for fans of Scandinavian design. The building itself is worth a mention: a Jørn Utzon-designed cube, with vast glass windows and a brilliant white facade. You may not be able to afford many of the interior design classics on display here from both Danish as well as international designers, including chairs, lamps, rugs and smart gadgets, but feel free to window shop to your heart's content: Many of these items can't be found anywhere else. Examples of designers with products on sale here include Frank Gehry, Le Corbusier, Alvar Aalto and Antonio Citterio. Those looking to snatch a seasonal bargain will be disappointed: On principal, Paustian never holds sales. While you're here, check out the (independently-owned) Paustian restaurant, located in the same building.
