Description:
If you're looking for a small and intimate boutique hotel in the shadow of the Mezquita, this is as good as it gets. Inaugurated in 2000, Lola Hotel is set behind the thick masonry walls of what was originally built as a private home in 1888. You'll register, relax, socialize with your fellow guests, eat breakfast, and order drinks from the bar all in the same cramped but convivial area: a small but cozy open-air courtyard ringed with stone columns. Bedrooms are larger and more plush than you might have expected -- and have surprisingly opulent bathrooms, each with gorgeous tilework. Each guest room bears a name popular for 19th-century Muslim women: Aixa, Aida, Alzára, Jasmina, and Suleima.
