This Tudor inn is set in a quiet, parklike setting -- an easy stroll to the services and shops of West Street. Built in 1924 and extensively renovated in 1994, the four-story hotel's appealing detailing will charm you. (The place was designated a Registered Heritage Structure in 2001.) Rooms are tastefully decorated with colonial reproductions; the popular Tudor Suite has a private Jacuzzi. You'll get far more character here than at the chain motels in town, for about the same price. The inn's two eating rooms, the Carriage Room and the Wine Cellar, are quite popular among local diners; the setting can feel a bit institutional (they do a rousing business with conventions and banquets), but the food is nevertheless pretty good. There's also a commodious pub and a little art gallery on the inn's premises.
