Despite its chain hotel status and low-end reputation, the Comfort Inn might be Costa del Sol's best hotel. This six-story, beachfront hotel was built in 2006 with all of the money and technology an international chain can afford -- which means everything is newly updated and looks great. All the rooms have balconies with beautiful, long-range Pacific views, and the grounds include two huge pools -- one of which is the largest I've seen in El Salvador -- a poolside bar, an open-air restaurant, and a wide, sandy beach. The rooms are at least as large as you'll find in other El Salvador hotels and the bathrooms are larger and more modern. Three large suites are also available on the top floor. Room service is a bit slow and a load of laundry is a ridiculous $13 (£6.50), but the decent room rates compensate for this.
