• The Lizard King Resort is a cozy bed and breakfast style hotel in Puerto Viejo. Beautiful wood construction with a two story courtyard design overlooks a cool square pool. The rooms are polished and clean, some have been updated and include cable television and air conditioning, but the basic rooms have ceiling and table fans. The onsite Mexican restaurant is excellent for breakfast lunch and dinner, and the little bar is a nice bonus, too. A short walk from the center of town, the Lizard King is on the southern edge of town on the main road, far enough from the hustle and bustle of the town and an ideal base for exploring the region. The rates are very reasonable, and the overall value is easily the best in town. Some of the best beaches are a quick walk or bike ride, but if it rains, The Lizard King has wi-fi internet, still somewhat hard to find in Puerto Viejo.
