Jaguar Rescue Center

Jaguar Rescue Center - Costa Rica
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Be prepared to fall in love with baby howler monkeys and smiling sloths; fun for the whole family.

  • Description:

    • At the Jaguar Animal Rescue Center just south of Puerto Viejo creatures that have been mistreated, injured and/or confiscated are rehabilitated and then reintroduced to their natural habitat in protected areas.  During a visit to the Center you'll have hands-on play time with monkey and sloths, get up-close and personal with wild cats and racoons, and see plenty of reptiles and amphibians, including several venomous snakes which are housed in terrariums that imitate their natural habitat. The guides and caretakers are well-versed in the creatures under their care, and a tour of the Jaguar Rescue Center provides a well-rounded, interactive experience that may be best described as unforgettable and heartwarming. Guided visits are available from Monday to Saturday at 9.30 am and at 11.30; the center is closed on Sundays. Entrance fee is $15, and goes entirely to support of the wildlife and the preservation of the rainforest habitat.
