Sloth Sanctuary

Sloth Sanctuary - Costa Rica
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Consider volunteering at the Sloth Sanctuary for an in-depth experience with the sloths.

  • Description:

    • Just north of Cahuita on the Caribbean coast, the Sloth Sanctuary offers tours of its rescue and rehabilitation center that offers a nice introduction to sloths. Open to the public from 8am, the last tour begins at 2:30pm. Tours run continually, seven days a week on the hour, no reservations necessary. 2 ½ hours Cost of tour $25 per person (Children under 4 years – free: 5 - 11 years of age - $15, 12 and up - $25) Sloths are exceptional creatures that live all over the country, but seem to thrive especially well along the Caribbean, where you might see them slowly crossing the road or reaching for a piece of fruit from a low-hanging branch, but taking a tour and supporting a sloth sanctuary is a nice way to know you're helping them survive the tourism trade.
